The Corset Diet

No, I am not going to reveal the magic secret to weight loss - but I am going to tell you that incorporating corset wearing into your daily routine may help you to lose weight.

Simply wearing a corset will reduce your waistline by a couple of inches, which will in turn improve your posture, support your lower back and make your clothes look better. And this is before you have even begun to "diet"!

Wearing a corset puts pressure on your stomach as well as your waistline. One of the reasons people lose weight when they have gastric bypass surgery is because their stomach is made smaller, so they feel full much more quickly. A corset will produce a similar effect by putting pressure on the stomach, causing us to feel full much more quickly. Food may also digest more slowly, keeping us from wanting to eat again for a longer period of time.

You will need to have a well-fitted corset that is comfortable for daily wear. Some people may be able to wear a standard size corset, but remember that a custom fitted corset is always more comfortable. If you want to start corseting quickly, we recommend that you order a stock-size corset AND a custom fitted corset. You can get started on a limited basis while you wait for your custom corset to arrive. Otherwise you will want to plan ahead 4-8 weeks for your custom corset to be completed. Contact Corset Connection.com with your measurements for help on selecting the correct corset, and please let us know what your goals are.

Put your corset on as soon as you wake up in the morning. If you shower in the mornings, then do that immediately upon wakening, and put your corset on directly afterwards. If you eat or drink anything at all your corset will not go on as easily.

Lace the corset snugly, but not tightly, and get ready for your day. Before leaving your home or starting your day, lace the corset a little tighter, so that it is quite snug, but not uncomfortable. If you experience bloating or discomfort during the day be sure to loosen the laces. If anything is at all painful you will want to remove your corset. Do NOT remove your corset directly after eating a good-sized meal, or you will experience discomfort. After eating you will feel full, and if you remove the corset this will lessen the pressure on your stomach and may cause stomach pain or cramping. This is another good reason to not overeat while wearing a corset.

What to eat.

There are certain foods that do not combine well with corset wear. Foods that cause gas can cause discomfort while wearing a corset, as can overeating. Many people find that avoiding carbohydrates helps them while corseting, although we feel that a balanced diet is important, and avoiding certain food groups is not always a good idea.

Probably the best way to eat healthily while corseting is follow a method of "food combining". There are various eating plans which follow this theory, including (but not limited to) Atkins, Southbeach, Suzanne Somers, Macrobiotics and Marilu Henner's Total Health Makeover.

Exercise.

You must exercise. This is critical to any weight loss plan, but especially important when incorporating corset wear. The corset will support your stomach and lower back, and you will not be using the muscles in these areas as you normally do.

Walking is a great exercise that can be done while you are wearing your corset, but all other forms of exercise should be done without your corset. If you have a regular exercise routine then simply take your corset off before exercising, and put it back on when you are done.

If you do not currently exercise you will need to, at a very minimum, start a regular plan of daily stretching and toning exercises. We recommend that you start this stretching and toning plan at least a week before you start to wear your corset so that you will know what your body can do comfortably. You may be achy and sore when you first remove your corset, and the exercising will help tremendously.

Corset Training - Picking Your Corset Shape

Most people know there are at least a few different types of corset available, but in reality there are as many different variations as there are different makers; so its important to study the shape and style of a makers previous work before you buy. The most popular types are the hourglass, conical, and waist corset shapes. Others include pipe stem, S bend, Elizabethan and of course the male corset, which can be any of the above altered for the male physique.

When starting to corset train, the S bend and the pipe stem are no-go areas, these styles are for experienced tightlacers only and mould the body into fairly unnatural shapes; altering the torso to a much larger degree than the other styles. The Elizabethan shape belongs more to the realm of the historical re-enactor and the period dresser and is also less commonly used for corset training as the familiar modern day corset shape is based on the Victorian corset.

Your choice of corset style depends entirely on your desired body shape and preferred level of restriction. This will normally lead you to choose either the waist corset or an on the hips or over the hips version of the hourglass or conical shape - or something somewhere in-between these three.

The main question you should ask yourself is 'do I want to shape my ribs?' If the answer is 'no' or 'that sounds scary!' then opt for the hourglass, you can always progress to the conical shape later. The hourglass corset follows the curves of the ribs, moulding the figure while allowing room for them, the conical shape has straight sides that taper down from top to waist like an upside-down cone. This alters the position of the lower 'floating' ribs but should not cause discomfort in this area. Aching ribs are a sign of a too tightly laced corset. Remember, corset training is a gradual process not a quick fix, when in doubt - loosen!

The time period for altering rib shape is about 8 months plus, which varies from body to body and can take up to a year and a half to have full effect. During this time the corset needs to be worn at least 12 to 14 hours a day during the day or whenever you are most active. Sleeping in your corset won't work, you need to eat, drink, walk, talk and play scrabble in it for corset training to take effect. To exercise however, the corset should be removed. A conical rib cage can reduce lung capacity slightly in the same way cardiovascular exercise increases it, but this is unlikely to affect you unless your aiming for an extreme reduction to an inched waist size in the teens. There are no other health issues involved and a conical shape won't stop you exercising, rock climbing, scuba diving or having children.

As to corset length; whether you go for an on the hips or over the hips corset depends on your tummy flattening requirements. Over the hips gives more support to this area and is preferred for extreme tightlacing as the pressure of the corset is spread over a larger surface area and the abdomen isn't under strain from lack of support. There is slightly more restriction of movement from a longer corset but it will also improve posture and support the back more. When ordering a pre-made corset in the longer style it is important to check that the length of the front busk (if it is a front opening corset) isn't so long that it will hurt your pelvic bone when your sit down. The torso is shortest when the body is in a sitting position so to check this length sit down on a hard surface (not a padded sofa etc) with your back straight and using a stick or large ruler measure from your pelvic bone to your breast bone. Allow 2 inches more for an over bust, although the overbust is rarely used for corset training.

Lastly we come to the waist corset, also known as the waist cincher or waspie. This is the 'corset training light' corset, it has the benefit of complete freedom of movement and gives the figure the same sexy waist as a normal corset. However the waist corset gives no support or shaping to the stomach or ribs and the limited surface area also means less pressure can be safely and comfortably applied to the body; thus making the waist corset unsuitable for more than light corset training. The waist corset also gives the figure a less streamline silhouette as only the middle 6 to 8 inches are reduced.

The Difference Between A Bustier & A Corset

If you're like most people and are wondering what the difference is between a Corset and a Bustier is then you are not alone, being that they are both similar in style. Both are boned & fitted to the torso and have a very slimming effect on a woman's figure. Corsets are designed to make a woman look curvy by holding in the the waist, while Bustiers, having built in cups are used to push the up the bust and show more cleavage. Originally designed as intimate wear, today both are worn as as sexy outerwear.

Both Corsets and Bustiers, are sized like a bra. You usually have a round the back measurement and a cup measurement, just like a bra, although when purchasing a corset or bustier it is recommended that you give yourself one size more around the back allowing for "extra movement". For example, if you wear a 40DD, your bustier or corset size would be 40. If you wanted extra room, you would wear a 42. Most corsets and bustiers are made of stretch satin or lace, providing extra room without having to go up a size. They are also very comfortable. Both are often fitted with hook and eye closures that run up the back or sometimes they are laced up. They are made to sit just above the bust to below the hips so that garters and stockings are easily attached.

In Victorian times corsets were very popular. They were worn by all women but not for the same purpose they are today. In those days it was thought that woman did not leave the house without looking their best or slimmest. Corsets in those times were made hold in every extra pound.

Today, corsets & bustiers are worn under a suit or clothing to give the feeling of sensuality or to provide an extra lift. They can also be especially helpful as bridal lingerie under the dress, providing that slimming effect and lift you want for that special occasion. Or you can wear them for a romantic night with someone special.

Black Hair Styles

There are many favorite black hair styles around like braided, locks, sleek and straight, curly, short and funky or twisted and intricate hair styles. Whatever hairstyle you wish to choose, it is important to pay special attention to your facial features and bone structure. This is because some of the black hair styles can take your most beautiful facial features and make them even more stunning!

One thing to remember for the perfect black hair style is to take account of your build. For example, a close cropped black hair style does not suit one with a large frame. So remember to just make sure that your style and frame balance each other! The shape of the face too has to be taken into consideration when choosing the correct black hair style. Basically, there are five face shapes; oval, round, square, heart and rectangular. Whatever face shape you may have, it is better to choose a hair style that makes your face appear more oval. The reason the oval face is identified as the best facial shape is because of the perfect symmetry of some of the facial features it has, like the distance from the lips to the bottom of the chin.

If you do have a heart shaped face, you can make it appear more oval by positioning the weight of the black hair style at chin level. For those with round faces, it is best to minimize the cheekbones with some height in the bang. For square faces, it is better to have a hair style with short edges and texture directed towards the face. And for those with triangular shaped faces, more height and fullness should be present at the crown. With these generalized hints on black hair styles, you should go to a beauty parlor to get your hair cut accordingly!

Caught Red (Sprinkle) Faced.
My 3 year old fibbing to my face, and it is surprisingly cute haha! After I filmed it we had a VERY long talk about the difference between telling the truth and not telling the truth. He has an amazing imagination and loves to tell us stories. I saw this as a sweet moment, something that every child goes through...where they try to push the boundaries to see how far they can go. And I thought I'd share it with my friends and family. And apparently, the world seems to enjoy it, too. We are currently working on the difference, and he is doing really well. :) Side note: My son does NOT have a filling or a cavaty. He was eating breakfast at the time of Sprinklegate, and that is just some of his breakfast cereal in his teeth. It is a low quality video, and it just showed up in a funky color. But he does NOT eat sweets all the time (ah! Hence the binge!), and his teeth are healthy and beautiful.

British Victorian Wedding Gowns UK

With many couples desiring to relive the golden ages by having ethnic and vintage weddings, there has been a revival by designers and wedding planners to reproduce ethnic dresses in the whole of Europe. In the UK, prominent wedding designers are now known to have a collection of antique wedding dresses and have come up with ideas on how to incorporate antique outfits with a traditional fairytale or a modern wedding arrangement in a presentable way.

UK Wedding Dress Styles

There are varieties of bridal designer collections with a UK touch. Wedding dresses from the 16th Century down to the early 20th century have been used in many weddings recently. In the 18th and 19th century weddings, brides wore many colors. It is not until the 20th century that traditional wedding gowns were embroidered in white color. A wedding gown would be passed down the family for generations and preserved for years. Many of these costume collections can be seen in British museum collections, still with their lace and satin in near perfect condition. The art of dress was at a highpoint in the British colonies during the Victorian and Edwardian era that, according to many, has never been equaled. The Victorian obsession with character, morality and grace was due to the ultimate display of the wedding dress. Their magnificence and elegance can be observed in the Cincinnati Art Museum and many websites that offer antique information on British history and traditions.

Corset Styles

In 18th Century English, a new design known as the corset was in use. The dress has an easy shape to wear and looks good on a modern woman due to its boning that releases the pressure off the diaphragm and the waist. The British style corset creates a cleavage that shows off a woman's bust and enhances the overall appearance by compression. The corsets give the illusion of a smaller waist. This is further enhanced by intense decoration of the front with a style plus the incorporation of a new silhouette.

Today, corsets can be cut from original patterns, with or without tabs. Alternatively, they can also be modified to reflect modern styles with waists cut a little lower and even done with elastic inserts for ease and comfort. The wearer has the right of emphasizing bone channels. Having suitable interlinings with adequate boning is the key in any corset design, otherwise the wedding gown will seem to buckle at the waist.

A properly cut English wedding corset has a smooth finish from the neckline all the way down to the base. They can be produced in a wide variety of fabrics and endless ways of decorating them exist. In addition, they come with a combination of sleeve shapes.

Other Contemporary Wedding gowns

Other gowns with medieval overtures are Evelyn and Estella. Evelyn has a laced arm gauntlet with a toning skirt and hanging sleeves, while the Estella has a modern slim fitting fishtail with the elegance and style of a Victorian evening dress. Most of these weddings have undergone minor modifications before their use in modern wedding ceremonies. In any case, their original English classic look is evident and clearly discernible to an observant eye.
